My TOP picks for Father's Day gifts 2019

Father’s Day is upon us and I’m sure most of you are scratching your heads trying to decide on what to get that main guy in your life. Well I have a few suggestions which can give you some inspiration and make your job easier in finding HIM a great gift!

Let’s be honest- Dad’s are difficult to shop for! I get that. To me what helps is knowing the type of dad you are dealing with. Below I highlighted SOME of the types that exist which, hopefully, your dad might be able to fall into. If not, then you can just get him some clothes! They must always have clothes to wear sometime right?

The Sporty Dad

Some dads make it their business to stay fit, or some might actually make a decision in 2019 to make a start. So to those dads, I think the ideal gift is an activity tracking watch. The one that I will suggest is a well rounded one which tracks many different activities. The Garmin forerunner tracks distance, pace, time, heart rate and so match more! There are many other starter versions you can browse on amazon as well.

The Handy Man Dad

This is for those dads that just love fixing things around the house. My picks here have been sourced on Amazon.com so that you all can see reviews on the products before making a decision. They can be sourced in Trinidad as well, but it might defer slightly.

  • Tool Combo kit with Drill- it consists of a cordless drill with numerous connections that might come in handy when your dad least expects it.

  • Digital Measuring Tape- I thought this was such a great upgrade from the traditional tape measure.

The Drinking Dad

When I say drinking dad, I mean the dad who likes to knock back some cold ones. For these types of dads, you can just get them a bottle to add to their collection or to enjoy on Father’s day, or you can get them some of my cool finds below. Click on each pic below to understand more about it.

  • Whiskey barrel- This can be used for decorative purpose while it ages his favourite scotch.

  • Beer chiller sticks - This is new to the market and is worth a try when your dad is a connoisseur of beer.

The cooking Dad

Some are fortunate to have a dad who is amazing in the kitchen. The ones who are always creating something edible, whether it’s by the grill, a chulha or the good old stove. We bought my father in law a chefs knife recently which came in such a great packaging that you didn’t even want to remove the knife from the case. It really was impressive. Take a look at my thoughts on gifts for this type of dad:

  • Chefs Knife - A master in the kitchen deserves the best tools. And this is definitely a versatile one which allows him to not only feel like the celebrity chef that he is, but also to reduce his prep time so that he can spend more time you all. Their are so many types out there to chose from, you can decide on one that matches his personality. Remember that these knives come in various sizes so choose according to that. You can use this guide to help you chose.

  • Personalized cutting board- This is purely for decoration. It will make your dad feel even more confident in the kitchen when his name is permanently in there on display. An actual cutting board is a nice gift as well, but I'm also feeling the personalized one too.

These are just some choices for you, but there are so many other things you can get or do. For my husband, the girls like to “take him out for lunch” or spend a day doing fun daddy/daughter stuff like a day at the zoo or beach.
